Parts of centre:mk have been sealed off and police are on the scene following the discovery of two suspicious packages at the shopping centre.
A police statement said: 'Thames Valley Police is on the scene of two suspicious packages at thecentre:mk shopping centre. The John Lewis store is currently being evacuated as a precaution and a cordon is being put in place.
Road closures have also been put in place in the immediate vicinity. Members of the public are being urged to avoid the area until further notice.'
Centre:mk said: "We can confirm that as a precaution the police have requested we cordon off part of the shopping building while they deal with two unattended bags.
"The areas currently affected are from doors 18-11 (affecting both sides of the building). This may be subject to further change. Users of the multi-storey car park should use stairwell 3 to leave the carpark (opposite the theatre district). We will update further as and when Thames Valley Police advise."
One eye-witness told Total MK: “A member of security said it affects the area inside and out. It is attracting a lot of interest from shoppers. It's not the sort of thing you expect when you pop in for a coffee on a Monday morning, and quite worrying."
