centre:mk reports footfall growth bucking national trend

centre:mk is bucking the nationwide trend of declining footfall, and has reported that the centre’s footfall is up +1.13% YOY with close to 25 million footfall through the doors over the year.

As a regionally dominant shopping and leisure destination centre:mk continues to attract high spending shoppers, attracted by the convenient layout and extensive range of brands on offer.

centre:mk’s performance is defying the national picture and continues to appeal to both shoppers as well as retailers.

In just the last month, the centre has welcomed new retailers including Virgin Holidays and Oliver Bonas and a large flagship Primark store is also set to open in April 2019.

Kevin Duffy, Centre Director at centre:mk said: “2018 has been a great success for centre:mk with shoppers continuing to flock to our centre.

"Our £50m investment programme including our award winning guest services and brand new ‘smart’ car park reflects our ongoing commitment to both our retailers and shoppers and we believe centre:mk will go from strength to strength as we move into the new year.”

centre:mk saw 3.5m visitors over the Christmas period.

On Boxing Day, the centre opened its doors at 6am to welcome more than 100,000 shoppers hoping to pick up a bargain in the Boxing Day sales. Shoppers were seen queueing outside stores from just after midnight to be first in line for the biggest bargains.
