High Street giant Debenhams has today announced that its store in Milton Keynes will not reopen.
The department store said that it was unable to agree terms with its landlord, intu.
The shock announcement is another blow for shoppers in Milton Keynes, coming just months after House of Fraser shut its doors in centre:mk
"I'm surprised and saddened,' one customer told Total MK, "Debenhams is one of the biggest and best names in Milton Keynes. Its loss, and other store closures, will be felt for a long time. How terrible for the staff too. I'm not sure how long shopping in Milton Keynes will continue to be 'a thing' unless things change soon."
Last week intu put administrators on standby.
Two other Debenhams branches - Metrocentre and Watford - have also closed their doors permanently.
