intu Milton Keynes teamed up with Milton Keynes Hospital Charity and Keech Hospice to support World Cancer Day on Monday.
The shopping centre raised money for Cancer Research by selling wristbands and a team of experts from Milton Keynes Hospital Charity and Keech Hospice were on the mall, advising and educating people on cancer, as well as talking about how we can all take action.
Shoppers came along to talk about concerns they have for themselves or family members and were directed and advised for further help if needed.
Milton Keynes Hospital Charity also had a special memory tree in the mall, onto which shoppers could hang messages for their lost loved ones.
Shelley Peppard, general manager at intu Milton Keynes, said: “Cancer affects all of us in one way or another, and it is about time we raised our collective voice.
"Thank you to everyone who came along to our event on 4 February – it was great to see the people of Milton Keynes joining us, to ask their questions and learn more about this awful disease, as well as the wonderful World Cancer Day campaign.”
Vanessa Holmes, head of fundraising at Milton Keynes Hospital Charity said: “We’re really grateful to the wonderful people at Intu for asking us to take part in the World Cancer Day event. Meeting people in the community meant a great deal.
"Our cancer centre appeal will help the hospital transform cancer care for people in Milton Keynes and its surrounding areas, and we’re so pleased to have Intu’s support.”
