A charity that supports the homeless has received a donation of £10,000 from the Amazon fulfilment centre team in Milton Keynes to help it continue to support the local community during COVID-19.
The donation was made after a member of the Amazon team nominated Winter Night Shelter Milton Keynes to benefit from a special COVID-19 support initiative as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its operating locations in the UK.
Winter Night Shelter Milton Keynes those who are homeless, vulnerable and are struggling with mental health in Milton Keynes.
The charity, who are based at Unity Park Station, provides emergency accommodation, a dedicated welfare team and pathways to longer-term housing and employment for vulnerable people. It plans to use the donation to continue its services at peak levels through spring and summer in response to rising need.

This is the second donation that the Amazon team in Milton Keynes has made to Winter Night Shelter Milton Keynes.
Speaking on the donation, David Tindal, General Manager at Amazon in Milton Keynes, said: “We’re proud to support organisations that are making a real difference in our community like Winter Night Shelter. Its staff and volunteers have been a great support to the people in Milton Keynes during COVID-19 and we want to lend a helping hand with this donation.”
Paul Howden who nominated Winter Night Shelter to receive the donation, said: “Winter Night Shelter is a charity close to my heart and I am pleased that it has been chosen to receive this donation from Amazon. I hope that it gives the staff and volunteers a boost during what continues to be a challenging year.”
Sara Millington, from Winter Night Shelter Milton Keynes added: “Like all charities, our services have never been needed more than they are now. Amazon’s support is hugely appreciated and will enable us to continue to reach and help people in our community.
