A man has been sentenced to three years and four months’ imprisonment for burglary, theft and shoplifting offences.
Laurence Cawley, aged 46, of Willen Road, Newport Pagnell, pleaded guilty to one count of dwelling burglary, one count of theft from a motor vehicle and one count of shoplifting at Aylesbury Crown Court on Wednesday (September 18). He was sentenced on the same day.
His offences took place in June and August this year at locations in Milton Keynes.
On June 30, Cawley broke into three vehicles in Potters Lane and stole equipment with a value of more than £8,500.
On August 8, he stole meat from a shop in Pennyland. As he fled the scene on a bicycle, he came across a 52-year-old woman who had fallen over and needed help to get herself back up.

Cawley helped her up and took her back to her home address. He then helped her inside and the victim offered to make him a drink to say thank you.
While she did this, Cawley went upstairs where he stole family jewellery worth more than £10,000.
Cawley was charged with the offences on August 12.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Martin Camp, based at Milton Keynes police station, said: “Cawley has been sentenced to prison for his offences.
“He took advantage of a woman who was in need of help and stole a substantial amount of her jewellery while she was trying to thank him.
“We will not tolerate this sort of offending and we will always seek to bring to justice those responsible.”
