Milton Keynes Musica Choir performs We’ll Meet Again for Covid-19 MK Emergency Response Appeal

Milton Keynes choir, Musica Charity Choir MK, is raising awareness of Milton Keynes Community Foundation’s Covid-19 MK Emergency Response Appeal by encouraging everyone to “Keep Smiling Through” in the lead up to VE Day 75 next Friday.

From their lounges, studies, and gardens, the choir has sung, recorded and filmed a virtual version of the wartime classic, “We’ll Meet Again” complete with new ‘lockdown lyrics’ and full harmonies.

The video will be officially released on Friday 1st May here with viewers able to donate to the appeal via Milton Keynes Community Foundation’s website: here

As COVID-19 continues to impact our daily lives and affect our communities, there are amazing examples of communities pulling together and supporting one another, to try and help those who are vulnerable or in need.

Milton Keynes Community Foundation has launched a Covid-19 MK Emergency Response Appeal to generate much needed funds to support local community groups delivering frontline services, such as food, shopping or general wellbeing.

Musica Charity Choir MK should have been performing VE-Day concerts in May. Instead members have come together online to perform “We’ll Meet Again” with new ‘lockdown lyrics’, to help raise awareness of the emergency appeal and encourage people to give what they can.

“It was fun to do and a good technical challenge”, says Musica’s Music Director Ken Storry.

“We hope this version will raise some smiles - and also help to raise funds for services for local people most in need. Musica is delighted to be helping to spread the word about the Covid-19 MK Emergency Response Appeal.”

Ranjit Singh, Philanthropy Director at MKCF said: “We will continue to provide support to meet the needs of our community as long as the pandemic continues and beyond. Our target is £400,000 by June and we are halfway there, all donations are appreciated and help us make a difference.”

“We hope people will tell their family and friends and join us for a good old fashioned sing-along to get the weekend and the VE celebrations off to a fun start” says Ken. Viewers can also sing along on both channels to Musica’s first virtual choir performance: “What a Wonderful World”.
