Muslims from Britain’s oldest and largest Muslim Association in Milton Keynes have collaborated with the Soup Run campaign.
Food is gathered from various branches of Greggs and Pret A Manger in Milton Keynes and is distributed to the less fortunate at the SMART hub in Bletchley.
With the constantly rising homelessness problem, Muslims from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) are out in the evening to help ease hardships of the rough sleepers.
In an era where Muslims are shown to be disregarding such peaceful principles of Islam, AMYA takes small initiatives to serve a dual purpose of not only helping charitable causes but also reminding Muslims and non-Muslims alike that Islam and its founder stood firmly for equality and alms within humanity. It is this fundamental principle which form the basis for the work of AMYA.
Saeed Nazir, the local Muslim youth leader said:''This is a great opportunity for us to fulfil our Islamic duty of serving the needy and the poor and to follow in the examples of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).”
