An incredible £6,000, and counting, was raised at the Hospice’s latest tandem skydive event at the Hinton-in-the-Hedges airfield earlier this month.
The reasons for doing a skydive varied from person to person, with some celebrating a milestone birthday, others, including a 70 year old gentleman, wanted to tick it off their bucket list, and those who jumped in memory of a loved one who had been cared for by Willen Hospice.
Steph Dawson, who jumped with her Mum, said: “I wanted to skydive for Willen Hospice to celebrate my 21st birthday, and also because I lost my Stepdad to cancer about three years ago and he was cared for by the Hospice.
"The skydive was absolutely amazing, and if anyone is thinking about doing it then they should just do it!”
Tracey Jago, Senior Events Fundraiser said: “It’s always great to see everyone after they’ve completed the jump - they’re absolutely buzzing! We are so thankful to everyone who did a skydive for us, the money raised will help us to continue supporting local patients and their families. We can’t wait for the next one!”
Willen Hospice will be holding another tandem skydive on Saturday 25 August. Click here to sign up. The charity needs to raise £4.7million a year, that’s £9 a minute, to provide free, compassionate care to local families.
