Newport Road in Broughton has been closed following a gas strike in the footway outside property number 140, which is between Lavender Hill and Poppy Avenue.
A utility company carrying out excavation works in the area has damaged a gas pipe and this has caused a fire.
However there are no reported injuries and emergency services along with SGN gas are dealing with the issue.
MK Council Highways officers are also on site and have closed the road for safety and set up a diversion route for traffic.
