For those who find music and song enrich their spiritual journey, Judy Barker has recorded a second CD with an accompanying booklet entitled Songs for the Dancing Spirit, a selection of songs with a sense of joy and thanksgiving.
It is being sold to raise funds for much-needed new equipment at Woburn Sands Methodist Church.
Judy says: “When I sing them, my spirits lift and dance with joyfulness, and I hope these recordings - imperfect as they are - will offer that same energy to those listening.
"The songs offer musical expression for four aspects of our spiritual progress: Journeys, faith, service and thanks and celebration.
"There are notes about each song, together with Bible references, which I hope will enhance the enjoyment of listening and singing along.”
Songs for the Dancing Spiritt comprises 26 faith songs, with guitar accompaniment, including four of Judy’s original compositions, and there is a companion booklet with notes about each song, thoughts about the song in terms of nurturing faith, and appropriate Bible references researched by Rev Chris Batten.
"Some, like One More Step Along the World I go and This is the Day, are well-known favourites from Mission Praise and Singing the Faith, and others, like Jesu Jesu and Standing in the Need of Prayer come from other cultures.
The release is a sister CD to Judy’s Songs in the Key of Faith, released in 2015. Copies of each CD and booklet, price £10, are available through Woburn Sands Methodist Church or Judy Barker, and thanks to sponsorship, all the money will go to the church.
