With societal pressures and distractions among peers, there’s a growing concern for mental health affecting children, with many finding it difficult to concentrate and calm their minds.
Whitespace Yoga & Wellbeing Studio in Stony Stratford is helping kids stop the stream of stressful thoughts and regain power over their emotions with the introduction of a Kids Mindfulness course.
Helping to tackle stress and build resilience, the techniques taught in the kid's mindfulness course will be centred around learning how to really focus on the present moment.
Recent studies show how mindfulness skills can particularly improve the attention and focus in children with ADD and ADHD – regulating emotions and improving concentration.
A 6-week course beginning on Monday, October 1 has been specially designed for children aged six-11 and their parents to learn how to apply mindfulness and meditation skills to build resilience, enabling both to cope with stress and difficult everyday situations.
Deborah Berryman, yoga teacher and founder of Whitespace Studio said: “Mental wellbeing is extremely important in the development of children, so we are delighted to be bringing this mindfulness course to the calm and safe environment of our studio.”
“Mindfulness is a practice to be shared and taken into our everyday lives, which is why it is important for parent and child to experience this course together, so both can learn techniques and skills to apply to life," she added.
The Kids Mindfulness course is available to book now here and costs £59 for one adult and child or £89 for an adult with two children.
Through Yoga, Pilates and Mindfulness, Whitespace Studio has helped to improve the health and wellbeing of more than 6,500 residents in Milton Keynes over the last seven years and continues to do so with a variety of classes each week to suit all ages and abilities.
