Why the Milton Keynes Marathon is great news for business

The Milton Keynes Marathon is one of the biggest mass-participation sporting events in the region, and as well as providing a boost for charities and encouraging healthy activity, it’s also a great opportunity for businesses.

10,000 runners are expected to sign up for the sixth annual event on Monday 1st May. Sponsors see it as an ideal opportunity to get their brands in front of what’s considered a highly desirable consumer.

BMI Healthcare are sponsoring the MK Marathon Relay as Natalie Wallace explained: “The MK Marathon is one of the biggest community events that takes place throughout the year. It is relaying a positive message to people of all ages that sport is good for us in all sorts of ways. Good for the mind in encouraging a sense of community, and specifically in the relay, in teamwork. Good for the body in keeping you fit and healthy, and good for the soul in improving your overall wellbeing.“

Pam Gosal, head of corporate economic development & inward investment at Milton Keynes Council is a keen marathon runner herself.

“I understand the importance of businesses supporting the MK Marathon," she said, "It brings runners from across the region to Milton Keynes from diverse communities and raises our profile nationally.”

Melissa Charron, marketing executive at Pasquier explained why their new bakery in Wymbush is sponsoring the marathon: “As a family run company based in Milton Keynes, it is important to us to support the community and share our values of enjoying family moments and promoting sports. We will be handing out brioche to each runner and have a stand in the Race Village for the whole family to enjoy the brioche. Come and join us!”

Event director Andy Hully added: “It’s exciting to see so many businesses supporting the marathon, both as sponsors and by entering teams. It’s shaping up to be one of the biggest events of the MK50 celebrations and we’re looking forward to welcoming thousands of runners to showcase what an amazing place Milton Keynes is.”
