Deputy Mayor of Milton Keynes Cllr. David Hopkins joined members of the team from Willen Hospice at Planet Ice Milton Keynes to officially launch the start of the charity’s Blue Week.
The team skated into action to help raise awareness of a week of fundraising that includes blue themed activities arranged by members of the community, collections taking place across Milton Keynes, cookie bake sales and special shopping events at the charity’s shops.
Willen Hospice needs to raise £7 every minute of the year. Blue Week is a fundraising campaign held to support the specialist end-of-life care the Hospice provides in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.
Dawn Clark, Fundraising Manager said ‘What a way to start Blue Week! We’d like to say a massive thank you to Planet Ice Milton Keynes and the Deputy Mayor as well as every single person who is getting involved in Blue Week.
"Whether it’s holding an event, volunteering for an hour at a collection, fundraising with sponsored challenges or anything else to support the work of Willen Hospice, everyone who is getting involved is helping make a difference.’
