Grin and bare it with The Full Monty at Milton Keynes Theatre

Nearly 20 years ago, a British film about six out-of-work Sheffield steelworkers with nothing to lose whipped up a storm.

And by the time things settled down, it had become one of the most successful British films ever made.

The Full Monty is still a popular draw today, and the stage show is still touring, playing before avid audiences.
From Monday (October 3) it arrives at Milton Keynes Theatre with a great cast bringing it to life.

Gary Lucy, whose small screen career has seen him take the lead in EastEnders, The Bill, Footballers Wives and Holloaks, is Gaz, with Dinnerladies face Andrew Dunn in line-up as Gerald.
If you were among the soap fans who used to wander down Brookside, you'll remember Louis Emerick from the Liverpudlian hit - he was cast favourite Mick Johnson. He plays Horse in this steely delivery.
Chris Fountain and Kai Owen who also did time in Hollyoaks, are Guy and Dave.

Simon Beaufoy is the Oscar and BAFTA-winning writer of the film.

His other screen credits include The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, 127 House and Slumdog Millionaire, but this is the first time that Beaufoy has reached into the world of theatre - adapting his own screenplay for the heartfelt and hilarious stage production.

It worked out well for him, mind you - a hit with the critics and the fans, it earned the UK Theatre Award for Best Touring Production.

And we must give a nod to director Jack Ryder, a chap who earned his acting stripes as Jamie Mitchell in EastEnders before stepping behind the scenes.
He has since worked his magic on national tours including Calendar Girls and the short film Act of Memory.

As we've just told you, it's a taut cast and an all-round smart production ready to entertain.
Grin and bare it from Monday with performances through to October 8.
