Gritty dance-theatre production #JeSuis on its way to Milton Keynes

Aakash Odedra Company’s powerful and political dance-theatre production #JeSuis will enthral audience members at The Venue MK on Monday, May 13.

#JeSuis is contemporary dancer and choreographer Aakash Odedra’s first ensemble work.

Devised as a physical exploration of oppression, it is performed by seven dancers and uses emotionally-charged movement to convey the plight of individuals struggling to find their voice.

Essentially, #JeSuis honours all those people – in prisons, in refugee camps, in houses behind closed curtains – whose stories have not yet been ‘hashtagged’. It compels viewers to see people, not political problems.

The production, which won the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award in 2017, is performed to a soundtrack that features the dancers’ voices mixed with exhilarating percussion.

#JeSuis is being presented in Milton Keynes as a highlight of MÓTUS Festival 2019, the city’s celebration of dynamic dance.

Milton Keynes is one of just five cities hosting #JeSuis on its UK spring tour. This season’s performances in Leicester, Cambridge, Plymouth, Canterbury – and Milton Keynes – follow the London premiere at Sadler’s Wells in November 2018.

Tickets cost £12 (£10 concessions).  To book click here
