Ready the picnic, and prepare for a magical night at Linford Manor Park on Friday (August 7) when Illyria theatre company present The Taming of the Shrew.
With the pretty location, and one of Shakespeare's finest works playing out, it is a terrific way to unwind and be entertained, by a company familiar to performing in the area – since 2006 they have been colouring up our landscapes with their deliveries.
“We are thrilled to have been welcomed back,” said artistic director of Illyria, Oliver Gray, “We promise an evening of romance and rip-roaring wit!”
For those not au fait with the Bard's work, here's the plot; 'Everyone wants to marry mild-mannered Bianca. No-one wants to marry her acid-tongued older sister Kate. Their father won't let anyone marry Bianca until a husband can be found for Kate – but no-one knows anyone mad enough to take her on.
Until Patruchio comes to town....'
Sparks are guaranteed to fly in Shakespeare's rumbustious battle-of-the-sexes comedy, where nobody is exactly who they appear to be!
This is England, land of the iffy weather, so bring warm clothes and seating, but gazebos and BBQs are definitely not to be taken along, and pets are forbidden.
Gates open at 6.30pm on Friday, and the show begins an hour later.
