Willen Hospice has teamed up with local businesses to bring MK Midnight Moo walkers the best possible midnight walk experience on July 13.
MyMiltonKeynes has joined numerous local companies which are already on board as Mile Sponsors. These include centre:mk, Illuminis Insight Software Ltd, Prestige Estates, Vendmaster, Costco, Hewitsons, CS Cleaning, MK College and Energie Fitness.
This week some of the supporting businesses were on hand for a ride in the MyMiltonKeynes bus. MyMiltonKeynes will be providing a free shuttle bus service, giving walkers who complete the Half Moo an opportunity to take a bus from Webber Independent School back to intu Milton Keynes between 1-3am.
With the environment in mind, this year there’ll be a reduction of single use plastic water bottles. Instead Vendmaster will be supplying water coolers at the start and Moo walkers are encouraged to bring their own reusable bottles for refills.
Melanie Beck, Chief Executive of MyMiltonKeynes said: “It’s the perfect opportunity for us to show our continued support for our local hospice and join in the amazing atmosphere on the night. Our bus provides a fast and safe way for walkers to get back to the starting point in the early hours of the morning after all the excitement of the event.”
Sarah Sweet-Rowley, Associate Director of Community Development at Willen Hospice said: “This is the first year we are offering the Half Moo as an option to ladies who may prefer a shorter route but would still love to be part of the incredibly fun atmosphere of the midnight walk. Having MyMiltonKeynes stepping up to supply the transport to keep our ladies safe is just one more way in which we are making the Moo better every year.”
Last year the MK Midnight Moo helped Willen Hospice raise a record £120,000 towards continuing its specialist care for patients and their families living in and around Milton Keynes.
The local charity is inviting ladies to join the disco-themed walk to raise vital funds. Participants are encouraged to dress up in leg warmers, neon colours, flares and big hairdos to make the occasion as much fun as possible.
The charity needs to raise £4.7 million from the local community every year to ensure they can continue to offer end of life care to patients in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas. Events like MK Midnight Moo are a great way for the public to support Willen Hospice.
