The Parks Trust is inviting everyone to head outside and join them this month (May 10-12) for its annual Walking Festival.
There will be 18 walks held over the three days at different locations across the city, giving people the opportunity to explore somewhere new and enjoy Milton Keynes’ beautiful and inspiring landscapes.
To celebrate the 10th year anniversary of MK Walking Festival they have included a challenge to get involved with.
Join the 25-mile challenge walk on Saturday, May 11 at 8am to challenge yourself and discover the beautiful parkland Milton Keynes has to offer. Complete the challenge and you’ll receive your very own MK Walking Festival 2019 medal.
In addition, this year’s programme offers walks for all ages and abilities. Join Willen Hospice for a gentle pace walk around Willen Lake North, if you’re interested in art then either the Gyosei Art Trail or the Campbell Park Art Trail walks might be for you.
A canal walk with boat ride is also available on Sunday, May 12 for those interested in discovering more about the Grand Union Canal. Additionally, walks are available for well-behaved dogs to join from a Woof Walk in Stony Stratford on Saturday 11 to the Circles of the North walk on Sunday 12 which incorporates the green space north of Milton Keynes.
Julie Dawes, Events & Community Engagement Manager for The Parks Trust, said: “This year’s Walking Festival is set to be better than ever, with options for people of all abilities. It was great to see new partners - MK Nordic Walking, Willen Hospice and the Friends of Great Linford Manor Park get involved with the 10th year anniversary of MK Walking Festival.
"With over 6,000 acres of parkland managed by The Parks Trust, there’s plenty of areas to explore and what better opportunity to head outside and visit somewhere new?”
“As ever, we could not do this without Milton Keynes Council; the Walking for Health programme and our own volunteers, whose help with organising and running this festival is absolutely vital.”
Spaces on walks should be booked online here
