A family fun Heritage Open Day is being held at Great Linford Manor Park on Sunday (September 9).
As part of the ongoing Heritage Lottery Funded project to ‘Reveal, Revive and Restore’ Great Linford Manor Park, the event will allow visitors to discover horrible heritage and fun facts about the wonders of Great Linford Manor Park and St. Andrew’s Church.
This free event will be held between 12noon and 4pm, with plenty of activities for all the family to enjoy.
Darrel Canvin, Great Linford Manor project coordinator, said: “Great Linford Manor Park provides the perfect backdrop for a family themed Heritage Open Day. It’s important that we engage as many people and community groups as possible through our varied events programme – this event will offer activities for all audiences, and the horrible heritage trail will ensure that young children will learn a vast amount about the history of the park, whilst also having fun.
“The park features several grade 2* listed buildings, 18th Century heritage features and the famous veteran lime tree, estimated to be over 500 years old. This is a great opportunity to find out more about local history and explore some of Milton Keynes’ parkland’.
There will be live music, a children’s horrible heritage trail, bell ringing, guided walks and a variety of garden games. Food can be purchased on the day from local vendors and St Andrew’s Church or alternatively why not bring along a picnic and enjoy the historic features of the park and views of the impressive Manor House.
The event is being organised by The Parks Trust, St. Andrews Church and the Friends of Great Linford Manor Park Group,
