Local people are being invited to put the fun in fundraising this October by taking on a crazy challenge to support Willen Hospice.
Wacky for Willen, which runs for the whole month, invites people of all ages to raise money in any way they like, from sporting a crazy hairstyle or wearing fancy dress to work, to a sponsored silence or bathing in a tub of beans.
Fundraisers are also invited to go wacky in front of an audience when the Hospice takes Wacky for Willen to Middleton Hall, centre:mk on Sunday 21 October. A whole host of challenges will be on offer, including chest waxing, head shaving, tattoos, bush tucker style trials and even a lego firewalk!
Sarah Sweet-Rowley, Head of Community Fundraising and Events, said: “There is no end to how much fun can be had with this challenge. It’s a fantastic opportunity for people to throw caution to the wind and do the silliest thing they can think of, in aid of a great cause. This is something that anyone can be a part of, whether at school, at home, or at work. We really hope lots of people will join in and go wacky for Willen!”
Willen supporter John Hooton has already signed up for his wacky challenge. He said: “I have decided to dye my hair bright blue for the whole of October! I have supported the Hospice for many years and when they told me about Wacky for Willen, I knew I had to get involved. I’m ready for the strange looks – it’s a small price to pay to raise lots of money for our local Hospice.”
Willen Hospice needs to raise £9 every minute of the day to ensure they can provide specialist care for people living with a life-limiting illness, and their loved ones. Wacky for Willen is just one way to help raise those vital funds.
