Lady with the voice that made Tom Jones cry comes to Milton Keynes

Sally Barker is the lady with 'The 'Voice' that made Sir Tom Jones cry.

Whether singing as Tom Jones' finalist on the BBC TV show, delivering the songs of Sandy Denny in the reformed Fotheringay, with revered fem-folk group The Poozies or as a solo artist supporting Bob Dylan, Robert Plant or Richard Thompson, Sally Barker brings any song gloriously to life, and she'll be doing just that at The Stables on Tuesday (November 6).

A singer/songwriter whose back catalogue encompasses folk, jazz, blues and soul, she reduced Sir Tom Jones to tears as he mentored her through to the final of The Voice 2014.

Either solo, or in a duo with with US singer-songwriter Vicki Genfan, or with fab all-female trio I O T A (with Anna Ryder and Marion Fleetwood), Sally is a truly captivating performer as much at home in a folk club as on national television.

Chris Evans on Radio 2 said of her, "Sally changes the atmosphere in a room when she sings", and that atmosphere, her insightful songs, and the sound of her voice makes for a magical evening.

Chris Conway and Dan Britton also join the billing.

These two powerful multi-instrumental singer-songwriters, who make a full band sound between them (plus percussionist Neil Rabjohn), recently celebrated 25 years playing together.

Blending a West Coast US sound with Celtic folk and jazz, they also join Sally to great effect, as they have done in a series of concerts with her across the UK.

They've played with members of Jethro Tull & Fairport Convention, The Monkees' Peter Tork, Jackie Leven, and have supported Bob Geldof, Jefferson Starship, and Roy Wood. They also play in Celtic band Govannen, who have sold 15,000 albums worldwide.
