MÓTUS is launching a Youth Dance Company open to young people aged between 12 and 19.
Focused on performance, the company will take work to various festivals around the country.
The company will meet weekly in term time, and will also have the chance to take part in longer residencies in the school holidays.
The directors are now looking for 20 young people to form the first MÒTUS Youth Dance Company Cohort.
Intended to reinforce current training, the company will explore performance as a priority.
Chris Bradley-Goodship, MÓTUS Youth Dance Director said: “We really feel that young people come alive on stage. Our company members will be constantly encouraged to work and think creatively. We really want to show what Milton Keynes has to offer to the rest of the Country.”
Artistic Director, Helen Parlor added: “Dance is just a brilliant way to express yourself and offers development so many other skills: team work, problem solving, coordination and communication to name a few. We believe that there is a wealth of young dance talent in MK and we hope to showcase that.”
MÓTUS, established in 2014, runs large scale dance festivals in MK. They also run JUMP START youth dance platform welcoming 300 young performers each year. The next festival begins at the end of this month and lasts 12 weeks.
