North Bucks RSPB events in Milton Keynes

RSPB’s North Bucks Group’s 2018/19 season this month, with three organised events.

You do not have to be a RSPB member to attend, so take a look and see what takes your fancy...

On Wednesday (September 5) there will be a trip to the Anglian Water Birdwatching Centre at Rutland Water where passage waders and lingering ospreys are likely to be seen.

There are many hides and the visitor centre has toilets, a shop and snacks but it is suggested that a picnic is brought.

Most paths are accessible. There will be an entrance fee of £6 (£5 concessions) and you'll meet at 10am in the car park at SK 877 072, LE15 8BT signed off the A6003 one mile south of Oakham.

On Thursday, (September 13) sees the first of the season’s indoor meetings at The Cruck Barn, City Discovery Centre, Bradwell Abbey MK13 9AP.

The speakers will be Brian and Gina Lloyd on the subject Birding In New Zealand, home to some of the world’s rarest and endangered species.

Brian and Gina’s talk will concentrate on the endemic land birds and nesting sea birds, their protection and conservation with lots of excellent photographs of birds like kiwis, keas, kakas and albatrosses.

Doors open at 7.15pm for a 7.45pm start and free tea/coffee is available during the interval.

Group members £3, visitors £4, children £1.

On Saturday (September 22), there will be a morning visit to the Floodplain Forest reserve in Milton Keynes led by Pete How. It will provide an opportunity to visit our top wader site at this passage time. An easy circular walk with three hides.

Meet in The Parks Trust car park off Haversham Road near the railway viaduct at SP 816 421.
