Adults and children alike can now add their own stamp on Milton Keynes with the newly published Milton Keynes colouring book.
Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre (MKCDC) put together the 24 page book using drawings from the original designs for Milton Keynes. The drawings, held in the archive collections of MKCDC, show plans for Campbell Park; The National Bowl and the Blue Lagoon, Bletchley; as well as street furniture such as the famous bench and play equipment.
Residents of Milton Keynes and colouring fans worldwide can get creative thanks to a grant from the Milton Keynes Heritage Association (MKHA), which paid for the design and printing of the publication. The book allows people to engage with archive material in a unique way and connect with their heritage through interaction.
The novel idea was the brainchild of Catherine McIntyre, Archivist at MKCDC.
"The drawings lend themselves so well to colouring in and I'm thrilled they will reach a wider audience through the book. It's important to provide opportunities for everyone to access their history
and I hope that many people will enjoy themselves whilst learning a little about the new town."
'The Milton Keynes Colouring Book Vol. 1' is priced at £5 (+ postage, if applicable) and is available to buy in person at Bradwell Abbey, or online via the website.
