Willen Hospice is inviting local children to grab their scooters and take part in the charity’s annual Mini-Moo Scooterthon on Sunday, May 19.
This popular family event sees hundreds of children take to their scooters for a sponsored lap or two of Willen Lake North. Every child who takes part gets a medal, a stamp in their Fundraising Passport, and more surprise goodies on the day.
There will also be fairground rides and some well-loved mascots to cheer the kids on, including Willen’s very own Florence the Cow.
Katrina Walsh, Willen Hospice Events Fundraiser, said: “We’re so excited for this year’s Mini-Moo Scooterthon. It’s a really fun day out and a great way for children to do something for their local hospice and learn about fundraising.”
Last May the Mini-Moo Scooterthon raised an incredible £12,000 for the charity. It costs just £10 to enter but organisers are encouraging young fundraisers to go the extra mile, not on their scooters, but by raising as much extra money as they can through sponsorship. Any children who raise more than £100 will be invited to a special party in the summer.
Willen Hospice needs to raise £4.7million a year, that’s £9 a minute. Events like the Mini-Moo Scooterthon are a great way for younger members of the community to help support this.
Scooters and their parents/carers are invited to meet at Willen Hospice Gardens at 10am, ready for a 10.30am start. To book a place and download sponsorship forms, click here
