The local arm of the RSPB will mark the new year with a visit local gem, Willen Lake, tomorrow (January 1).
Expect a range of water birds including possible rarities especially if the weather has turned cold and the lake is frozen.
Ducks such as Smew and Goldeneye have been seen in the past.
Most paths are accessible but with some wet and muddy bits, and well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome on this walk only.
Former group leader, Chris Ward will lead this walk and we meet for a 10am start in The Parks Trust car park off V11 Tongwell Sreet just north of Pineham roundabout (V11/H5).
