Willen Hospice Scooterthon is ‘wheelie’ good for kids!

Children from across Milton Keynes and beyond are being invited the ‘get their scoot on’ for Willen Hospice.

The charity has launched its annual Mini-Moo Scooterthon, which will see hundreds of children take a spin around Willen Lake North on mini wheels.

The event takes place at 10.30am on Sunday 20 May and is open to children aged between three and 11 years old.

Moo mascot Florence the Cow joined Safari MK’s Charlie Monkey to launch the event with local children this week. Events Fundraiser, Gemma Cantwell, said: “We are so excited about this year’s Scooterthon. It’s such a fun event, and a really great way for children to get involved and do something to support their local hospice.

“Our events are a brilliant way to help us raise the vital funds we need to continue to offer specialist end-of-life care. We love being able to bring these events to a younger audience.”

The scoot follows a one mile circular route around the lake, starting outside the Hospice. Children can do one or two laps but must be accompanied by an adult throughout.

There will be medals and goodies for everyone who takes part.

The charity needs to raise £4.7 million from the local community every year to ensure they can continue to offer end of life care to patients in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas. Events like Scooterthon are a great way for the public to support the Hospice.
