Loughton will launch its second biennial Scarecrow Trail this Saturday (July 4).
Apparently, when deciding whether to hold the event in 2015, residents took a straw poll and the result was resoundingly positive...
Each scarecrow will represent a book, film or play, so there are endless possibilities for the taking.
More than 60 of the straw-sorts will be participating in the event, and you can purchase a trail guide from All Saints Church to get the most from the event.
The guide also features a kids quiz, and a voting slip for the Visitor's Choice award - your chance to vote for your favourite straw folks.
The trail will draw to a close on Saturday (July 11) with a Scarecrows' Supper, and Gifts and Promises Auction.
All monies raised from this bird-scaring event (think about it) will be ploughed into supporting the aforementioned All Saints Church, which dates back to the 13th century.
Pick up your event guide from the Church at the following times:
Saturday 4 &11 July (10am-5pm), Sunday, July 5 (11am-5pm) and Wednesday, July 8 (Noon - 2pm).
Tea and cakes will also be served at the Church during the weekend opening times.
