YOU HAVIN' A LAUGH? NISH KUMAR TACKLES OUR QUESTIONS

Acclaimed comedian Nish Kumar is back on the road with his new show Long Word...Long Word...Blah, Blah, Blah...I'm So Clever.'

And the man with the funnies and a CV brimming with good stuff will bring cheer to Milton Keynes on Sunday, November 1, with a date at The Cannon in Newport Pagnell for the That Time of the Month promo.

But before he starts looking at the changing political landscape and the state of our financial system, he tells Total MK what makes him laugh, about being chased off stage by a metal band, and why the chicken really crossed the road...

When did you first think 'Comedy - that's the job for me'

Probably the first time I did an honest day’s work. And then immediately realised that I needed to get a job where I could sleep all morning.

Which comedian first piqued your interest, and why?

Ross Noble was the first comedian I saw doing a full tour show. It was absolutely incredible.

If you weren't working raising the smiles, what would you be working as?

I’d probably be in jail.

What's the best heckle you've ever had?

Years ago I did a gig with a sketch group, two of whom were in The Inbetweeners. I did three jokes before someone shouted “When are the famous people on?” That was a hell of a heckle.

Tell us about your worst gig so far ...and the one which still send shivers for all the right reasons?

I got chased offstage by a heavy metal band because they were supposed to be on in my slot. That was a bad one. Filming the Alternative Comedy Experience was pretty great.

I was on with some great people. I’ve never been happier to be the weakest link.

Comedy has changed hugely over the past 50 years, so where do you think it will be in another 50 years?

Hopefully it will be in space.

Are there any subjects which are off limits?

No – it’s a cliché to say this but there are no subjects that are off limits. You can talk about anything with the right approach.

We've got to finish with a joke, so over to you - but keep it family friendly...anyone could read this!

Why did the chicken cross the road?

So that he could go to see Nish Kumar’s hilarious comedy show.
