Milton Keynes Art Week: Spotlight on Steve Urwin

Total MK takes a look at another of the creatives showing out at the ongoing Milton Keynes Arts Week, and checks in with the brush stroke creator Steve Urwin....

You can do the same today (Thursday, September 28) when Steve will be painting at Newport Pagnell Library, between midday and 4pm.

Works in:
Acrylic paint, inks,FX, resin on canvas

What fuels your creativity?
My thoughts are primarily wired to colour and texture
I have always had a vivid imagination and dig deep into it.  However I am smitten by so much of the world especially, water, skies and the natural world.
My work can be a combination of all those factors and I love to experiment

The piece of work you have produced that you are most proud of, and why
This has to be A Bigger Splash. This whole process flowed using my drawing skills on a 4’x 2’ deep canvas. The way the inks made their own way around the wildness of a swan landing and the colour combinations were perfect
I am still very proud of this one.  In fact it is my signature piece on the business cards that I give out.

If you could invite three artists, living or dead, to create a masterpiece with, who would you choose and why?
1/ Vincent van Gogh.He had a way with colour and expression that was so different to anyone else of his time
2/Picasso.  For his totally fresh way of interpretation in my genres. Interestingly he was a fine draughtsman who had excellent methodical skills
3/ Norman Rockwell, the american artist. He had the genius to capture a nation in everyday circumstances and added some humour.

See Steve at work...
My studio is based in Newport Pagnell Library @ basement entrance only. I will be working daily, usually 11am-4pm producing new experimental artwork.
There will also be examples of acrylic resin which is glass like and highly tactile and irresistable to the touch!

There are a number of contemporary pieces exhibited on the walls of my space already.

All work is for sale.

My style is contemporary, highly textured and beautiful which has an appeal to most age groups.

I am a passionate advocate for art in the business/commercial sector.

There are so many office walls which offer so little inspiration for staff working in the same place daily.
It has been proven by scientific investigation that the right colours increase productivity.

I thrive the co-operation in commissioned work and have completed private and commercial projects
