About the Author

Sammy Jones has spent the past two decades covering music, theatre and leisure in Milton Keynes – 17 of those years as leisure editor with the Milton Keynes Citizen newspaper.

No-one stuck at it that long – but then music and leisure isn't what she does, it's who she is.

But with www.totalmk.co.uk going from strength to strength, Sammy is now putting all of her time and energy into the fast-growing site, which is proving to be a great tool for those wanting to know what's on first.

As the site has gathered momentum, it is now incorporating local news too.  A one-stop shop for what's happening in and around the fast-growing town.

Sammy has also freelanced for a variety of national titles including music magazines Metal Hammer and Rock Sound, and delivered copy to various other publications – from travel magazines to glossy page-turners.

When not writing, she is usually nattering, and so it shouldn't surprise you that she has spent time as the leisure correspondent for radio stations in the area, and was instrumental in pushing local music onto the regional airwaves.

Currently, when not overseeing this site she is working PR accounts for clients, writing for leading regional magazine Pulse, and giving the benefit of her expertise to those who ask for it.

At the end of 2020 Sammy released a book charting the history of music in Milton Keynes – the facts, the fiction and the anecdotes from a town so rock 'n' roll that Marshall Amplification live here!

It is already on its third print run. A companion exhibition of memorabilia is showing at Milton Keynes Museum until September 27, 2021.
