Synopsis

16 year old Dora (Isabela Moner) lives with her explorer parents (Eva Longoria, Michael Pena) in the South American jungle. She knows a lot about the terrain, animals, plants and survival but clueless about teenagers.

Her parents decide to make amends for her relatively sheltered up bringing by sending her to High School to stay with friends in Los Angeles where her positive outlook and naivety make her few friends.

But when her parents, who are looking for a mythical Inca city of gold, go missing she is kidnapped along with three other kids by people who want the treasure. It’s up to these four young people to save the day.

Review by @Reelreviewer

Last week marked a bit of a down-turn for me.

Three poor movies in a row, by the final time I hit the multiplex on Saturday morning that familiar, comfortable building felt odd.

The walls started to close in on me, my heart rate increased, I felt a sense of anxiousness...did I have the first stages of 'cinematic cabin fever'?

Thank heavens for this estimable, fun, perky little action adventure, based on the well-known educational cartoons and books from the US, Dora the Explorer.

Thank heavens too for this great cast, including the adorable, sunny-faced Isabela Moner, Eva Longoria and the hugely entertaining Michael Pena (who isn't on screen for long enough) in a movie that is more gripping than you'd expect.
