Meet the author: Joanne Harris is coming to Waterstones Milton Keynes

Waterstones MK will be spending Friday evening (June 22) 'in conversation with ...' multi-million-copy bestselling author Joanne Harris, known world-wide for both literary fiction and magical realism.

She is the writer behind brilliant books such as Chocolat, The Lollipop Shoes, Peaches For Monsieur le Curé, Gentlemen & Players, Different Class, Blue Eyed Boy, Runemarks and The Gospel of Loki.

This event, starting at 6pm, is a celebration of her new book, The Testament of Loki and will discuss the fun (and chaos) that could ensue were a Norse god to find himself suddenly inhabiting the consciousness of a 21st century teenager!

After the discussion, there'll be chance to ask Joanne your questions, before she signs books.

Tickets cost just £2, and give you £2 off any book purchase on the night!

As for the book? Here's your brief...

Ragnarok was the End of Worlds. Asgard fell, the old gods were defeated – but Loki was never one to take his fate lying down.

When mankind begin to dream of the fallen Gods once more, he is given the means to escape to a new reality. But Loki is unknowingly accompanied on his journey by a dark power who seeks to destroy what he covets.

Now he must use his trickery and wit to reclaim all that he has lost. Joanne Harris returns with an homage to Norse mythology in this hilarious, epic, and brilliantly told novel, the follow up to The Gospel of Loki.

A combination of mythology and playful magic-realism, The Testament of Loki pits the Norse gods against the challenges of a modern world where nothing is quite as they expect...
