Download 2019: Clutch promise to deliver 'a solid set of favourites' to the Donington faithful

Maryland's Clutch have been delivering the goods since 1993, and with every gig, every song and every release, they pick up more fans.

Their twelfth long-player, Book of Bad Decisions came out in the Autumn of last year, and shows a band at its best.

Clutch bring their unrivalled lyricisms and gargantuan grooves back to the Download Festival on Friday, June 14, where they will bust out their huge slabs of sound on the main stage.

Ahead of their return, Clutch bassist Dan Maines talked all things Download with us - and teased with the promise of new music...

How special is it to be playing Download - the British home of rock and metal?
From the first time I saw Den Dennis running down the hall beating on everyone's door to let them know Bad News was playing Castle Donington I knew it was a special event.

I’m glad to be a part of the continuing tradition with this year’s Download Festival!

What can the Download faithful expect from your set?
We plan to deliver some pure rock fury to the masses with a solid set of Clutch fan favourites.

Don’t be surprised to hear a couple of deep cuts thrown in as well.

How will you spend the rest of your time on the site?
If I’m not checking out a band on stage you’ll find me at the concession stand buying dusty corndogs. Weather permitting.

Anyone else on the bill you'll be keen to check out?
It will be great to catch up with the guys from Opeth, it’s been a while.

Also looking forward to some Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.

What three festival essentials should Download ticket-holders be sure to pack before heading to the site?
A bird, an extra pair of socks, and ramen. Or maybe just sunscreen.

And festivals aside, what's going on with the band for the rest of 2019?
We've been spending some time in the studio recording some fun stuff.

Be on the lookout for new music from Clutch throughout the year.

Hope to see you out there!
