Download Festival: 'It's a huge thrill and an honour to be back,' say Tesla

Thirty-five years into their career, Tesla are positively thriving - their recently released  eighth studio album, Shock is testament to that.

The Californian rockers are promising to dip into that opus during their Friday slot on the main stage at this month's Download Festival...and fans will be getting a full fill of hits too.  We can't wait!

Guitarist Dave Rude talked about the band's return to the festival with Total MK...

How special is it to be playing Download again - the British home of rock and metal?

It’s a huge thrill and an honour to be hack at Download this year. This will be our third time and it’s always one of the most fun and memorable gigs.

What can the Download faithful expect from your set?

We’ll be playing all the hits along with an album track or two and maybe even a new song from our latest album, “Shock”.

How will you spend the rest of your time on the site?
I’ll be bouncing around between all the stages trying to catch as many bands as I can.

There are always so many cool bands on the bill and it’s hard to catch them all.

Anyone else on the bill you'll be keen to check out?
Definitely want to see Blackberry Smoke, Def Leppard and Slash with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators.

What three festival essentials should Download ticket-holders be sure to pack before heading to the site?
Hmm, maybe sunblock, water, and earplugs?

And festivals aside, what's going on with the band for the rest of 2019?
We’ll be out supporting the new record all across Europe, the US and Canada through the end of the year and into next as well.

Looking forward to a Canadian tour with Def Leppard in July too.
