Milton Keynes based artist Maryna Wren bags the National Songwriters competition title

Milton Keynes-based artist Martyna Wren is an artist in high demand - she already has numerous accolades under her belt including being a Yamaha endorsed artist for the last seven years.

Martyna has wowed at venues such as The Royal Albert Hall andCadogan Hall, and has enjoyed recent support slots with Paul Carrack on his latest sell out UK tour, and Jools Holland.

Martyna has also performed at exclusive events for Sir Michael Parkinson, and as the sole performer for legendary lyricist Sir Tim Rice at his 70th birthday.

And the latest string to her bow?  She has won the National songwriters competition through the UK Americana Association for her song Coming Up For Air and will receive a songwriting workshop with twice Grammy Nominated Beth Nielsen Chapman, and celebrated artists Graham Gouldman (10cc), Angaleena Presley and Glen Phillips for her prize.

Previously Martyna has been selected to record a cover of Sound of Silence for the award winning National Avon Campaign against Domestic Violence and has written and recorded vocals for national and international producers including Downton Abbey’s John Lunn.

For influences see Carole King, Carly Simon and piano singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan, which blend with a childhood spent listening to Peggy Lee, Julie London and The Carpenters.

Martyna is currently at work writing material for her new solo album, and in talks with a top American production company.  More to follow...
