Christmas is a time for giving - and Milton Keynes shoppers are being invited to help the homeless this festive season

The official launch of the intu Milton Keynes’ Giving Tree took place last week.

It’s a place where shoppers can donate gifts that will be given directly to homeless people living on the streets of Milton Keynes this Christmas.

Launched by representatives from The Bus Shelter MK, Open Door, Winter Nights Shelter MK and Help our Homeless MK, the tree will remain on the mall until Christmas Eve.

Shoppers wanting to show their support can select a tag from the Giving Tree (by the ‘Frog Clock’), write their name and a message on the tag and return it with a gift of their choice to the Customer Information Desk, next to Debenhams.

Gift ideas include warm clothes, , toothbrushes, toothpaste, blankets, a sleeping bag or even a gift voucher to allow them to buy a hot meal.

“With a record number of homeless people and families in Milton Keynes, this support is essential and helps the local charities that work hard to give homeless people a better chance in life,” said into’s Shelley Peppard.
“Our support for The Bus Shelter MK has been a great success this year and has helped turn an ambitious vision into a reality. I would like to thank every single person that gives something to the Giving Tree and let them know that these gifts are gratefully received and make a real difference at this particularly hard time of the year.”

For a full list of ideas for donations, please ask at the Customer Information Desk, all they ask is that the gifts are new, not gift wrapped and non-perishable.
