Knitting Nana's comfort bears travelling from Milton Keynes to Ukraine

Newport Pagnell's mysterious and marvellous Knitting Nana has been bringing joy to residents of the town since she started hiding little knitted tokens for residents to find during lockdown.

Now her cleverly crafted pieces are flying out to provide comfort to the victims of the horror in Ukraine.

Pictures of Nana's comfort bears and dolls she had made for children locally were spied online by someone organising aid parcels for the region. They got in touch to ask if she would make some for those affected by the war.

"I was only too happy to oblige," Knitting Nana told Total MK, "I created some sunflower brooches too, which is the national flower of the country.

"The parcel was sent off together with aid from a collection centre in Tanners Drive. I hope they will console and comfort, and let people know that we are thinking of them at this terrible time," she added.
