Milton Keynes arts groups to receive extra government funding

Pagrav Dance Company will receive £76,540 and the Milton Keynes Arts Centre is getting £50,000 in funding to help them survive the coronavirus pandemic.

A number of venues in MK received grants from the fund earlier this week including the Craufurd Arms, MK Museum, Bletchley Park and The Stables.

Iain Stewart, the MP for Milton Keynes South, said: “I welcome this announcement, further showing the Government's continued support through the Cultural Recovery Fund.

“The Department for Culture, Media and Sport are ensuring that MK's cultural organisations are capable of getting through these uncertain times”

Milton Keynes North MP Ben Everitt has welcomed the news but is talking to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to see if they are ways to support MK11 Live Music Venue in Kiln Farm and Unit Nine in Wolverton which have missed out on funding.

He said, “It’s fantastic news the Government is supporting even more MK venues through this pandemic because they offer so much to our local communities and the local economy.

“I am still looking at ways we can find funding for MK11 and Unit Nine and I know there is a real passionate support base for both of these venues.

“I’ve written to the Minister at DCMS asking if there is any support we can offer and I’ll continue to work with the Government to see what we can do.”
