Milton Keynes businesses take hospice to their heart

Milton Keynes businesses Woolfe Jewellery and charity cards specialists DoodleDoo are spreading some love this Valentines by showing their support for an appeal to help Willen Hospice reach more people living with life-limiting illnesses in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.

‘Hearts in our Community’ aims to raise money that can help Willen’s specialist community nursing team to support more patients and their families in their own homes - where and when they need it most.

Businessmen John Woolfe and Glenn Wynsor have been supporting the Hospice for a number of years, more recently raising almost £1,000 through the sale of greetings cards that can be personalised online.

For every card bought to support the Hospice, DoodleDoo makes a donation of at least 10% of the purchase price after VAT, which is then match funded by Woolfe Jewellery.

Fundraisers behind the hospice appeal are calling on local people to visit www.doodle-doo.co.uk ahead of this Valentine’s Day and check out the range of cards that are available to buy for loved ones.

Hospice chief executive Peta Wilkinson, said: “We are thrilled to have the support of DoodleDoo and Woolfe. We rely so heavily on donations made by local people, including the business community, to help us raise the money we need to support patients and their families in the community.

"We know that now, more than ever, there are many more people who would benefit from the support of our nurses, and we thank John and Glenn for their support to help raise awareness and funds.”

Glenn Wynsor from DoodleDoo said: “It’s great to be able to raise money for local good causes such as Willen Hospice, as well as support the local artists who create the artwork for many of our cards. We are grateful to Woolfe Jewellery for match-funding the donations we make through the sale of our cards. It is a great way to support your local hospice, and I would encourage any other local businesses who are interested in giving something back in this way to get in touch”

John Woolfe said: “We are delighted to support Willen Hospice and give back to the local community. I really urge local people to help them, whether that’s fundraising, volunteering or taking part in events.”

As well as supporting the Hospice through buying a DoodleDoo card, supporters can also support the Hearts in our Community appeal by texting ‘SWAN05 £5’ to 70070 or visiting www.willen-hospice.org.uk/hearts where there are a number of other ways to support the appeal.
