Milton Keynes MP welcomes lockdown easing in boost for local pubs, restaurants and hairdressers

Ben Everitt, the MP for Milton Keynes North, has welcomed the Prime Minister’s announcement local pubs, restaurants and hairdressers can re-open from 4th July.

Boris Johnson also revealed the current two metre social distancing guidelines will be reduced to one metre plus from the same date.

The list of places that can re-open included pubs, restaurants, hairdressers, cinemas, churches, hotels, caravan parks, museums, galleries, outdoor gyms, libraries, community centres and places of worship.

Weddings with up to 30 guests will also be allowed, while two households of any size can meet indoors for the first time.

Ben has launched a Bounce Back MK scheme to champion local businesses and encourage people to get out and support them in a safe way and hopes the MK community will continue to do the same for the latest re-openings.

“It’s fantastic news, not just for everyone who’s been putting off a DIY lockdown haircut or waiting for that first pub beer, but for the local businesses who have been desperately wanting to re-open," Ben said.

“The relaxation of the two metre rule will help many local pubs, restaurants and hairdressers who may not have been able to open if it remained two metres.

“Please do get out and support our local businesses in a safe way when they re-open on 4th July.”
