Murder investigation launched in Milton Keynes after man dies from stab wound to the neck

Police have confirmed that a murder investigation has been launched after a post-mortem examination concluded that a 49-year-old man who was found with serious injuries at an address in Clay Hill, Two Mile Ash died of a stab wound to the neck.

Officers were called by South Central Ambulance Service to the incident at 9.15am on Saturday morning (29/2) after the man was located inside a property with serious injuries.

Tragically, the man died at the scene, despite efforts from medical professionals to save his life.

A Home Office post-mortem was conducted this morning (1/3) which has confirmed the cause of death.

Two people, a 24-year-old man from Nuneaton and a 49-year-old woman from Milton Keynes were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

A further warrant of detention has been granted while investigations continue.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Sally Spencer of the Major Crime Unit based at Taplow, said: “Following the conclusion of the post-mortem, we can now confirm that this is a murder investigation.

“The victim’s next of kin have been made aware and his family are being supported by specially trained officers.

“Formal identification has yet to take place, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and all those affected.

“I would like to re-assure the community that we are working around the clock to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident and there remains a scene-watch in place at the property.

“Naturally, there will be concern at such an incident, but there will be a continued increased police presence and house to house enquiries while investigations continue.
