Enjoy a hit fuelled night out at MK Theatre with Beautiful - The Carole King Musical

Beautiful - The Carole King musical tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history.

Along the way, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation, including one of the best-selling albums of all time, Tapestry, and countless classics such as (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, Take Good Care of My Baby, You’ve Got a Friend, So Far Away, It Might as Well Rain Until September, Up on the Roof and The Locomotion.

The show also includes the Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann hit songs You’ve Lost that Lovin Feeling, On Broadway and We Gotta Get out of This Place.

Bronté Barbé is taking on the role of Carole.  And she's a long time fan of the lady she is imitating: " I’ve had Tapestry for years actually," she said, "When I first got a record player I bought it because my Mum said, 'you have to get this album it’s amazing', but I didn’t realise until listening to it just how many songs that I already knew were actually written by Carole King.

"Then I saw the show in the West End and realised there are loads and loads of songs I was pleasantly surprised to know, but had no idea were written by her. So many of her songs have filtered into my head without me knowing through the TV or radio.

"...she is so determined, particularly as a woman starting out in the time she did, working in the industry she did. She knew what she wanted, so worked hard and went out and got it, which makes her very inspirational. However, she is also a very relatable character I think," Barbé said.

Beautiful arrives at Milton Keynes Theatre on Tuesday (Feb 20) for a five day stay.
