Enjoy half term at Stantonbury Theatre in Milton Keynes

After a triumphant festive production of Red Riding Hood Versus The Wolf, Stantonbury Theatre has lined up three exciting family shows for half-term.

First, on Sunday, February 17 to launch the holiday, Michael Morpurgo’s much-loved Mimi And The Mountain Dragon is brought to the stage by Skewbald Theatre.

A magical musical puppetry adventure adapted from the book by Michael Morpurgo and illustrated by Helen Stephens, the show follows the adventures of Mimi, a young girl who discovers a baby dragon sleeping in her woodshed.

In a village terrified by the fearsome Mountain Dragon, how will Mimi return the baby to its mother at the castle at the top of the mountain?

With lively original songs, atmospheric storytelling and magical puppets Mimi and the Mountain Dragon is a perfect theatrical adventure for ages 3 and above.

Then, on Monday, February 18, another literary favourite comes to the stage with Engine House Theatre’s adaptation of Benji Davies’ award-winning book Grandad’s Island.

The Sainsbury's Children's Book Awards winner tells the story of Syd and his Grandad. Syd’s favourite person in the whole wide world is Grandad. And Grandad’s favourite person is Syd. Audiences are invited to join this intrepid duo as they head off on a heartwarming adventure filled with songs, laughter and jungles – a journey which will change their lives forever.

Finally, the half-term line-up sees the return of premiere improv group The Noise Next Door with their latest family show – The Noise Next Door - At Sea!

Previously seen on BBC1's The One Show and ITV1’s Tonight at the Palladium, the company will take audience suggestions and transform them into jaw-dropping scenes and mind-blowing songs in the blink of an eye. Expect mermaids, magic, sea-shanties and swords in an anarchic afternoon from some of the quickest wits in comedy.
