In Review: The 7 Fingers brings its phenomenal show to Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes Theatre is hosting the UK premiere tour of the spectacular Passagers by Canadian contemporary circus pioneers The 7 Fingers.

This is a phenomenal show which blends contemporary dance, electro swing music, drama and incredible circus skills into an unforgettable performance. Both stylish and spectacular, the 8 performers each bring their own skills to the show and have a chance to take the spotlight alongside an ongoing story about a group of passengers who meet on a train journey.

The 7 Fingers company was formed with a mission to redefine traditional circus and strip it back to the essence of the skills, then using these techniques to tell stories by fusing it with dance, theatre, multimedia and music.

Every member of the company bring skills honed over a lifetime of performance from Maude Parent's brilliant 'time stopping' contortion routine to Lucas Boutin who takes pole dancing to a whole new level with his Chinese Pole performance, at one point making the audience gasp as he appears to fall head first from the top of the stage stopping inches from the floor. Anna Kichtchenko is mesmerising with golden hula hoops and there is a spectacular aerial silks performance from Sabine Van Rensburg as well as some great trapeeze work with Marilou Verschelden.

Pablo Pramparo does a great routine juggling clubs and special mention should go to the heart stopping finale with Louis Joyal and Samuel Renaud performing the Russian Cradle. Sadly for Milton Keynes, Brin Schoellkopf was out with an injury so his high wire performance wasn't part of the show.

There is a constant artistic video backdrop behind the performers and a jazzy soundtrack featuring original music by Colin Gagné. Throughout the show, the cast are constantly moving in perfect synchronisation with impeccable timing and attention to detail which takes the show beyond the technical skills and makes it a real art form.

The show is only in MK for two nights so if you're able to get tickets for this evening's (Saturday) performance, this is definitely one not to miss.
