Beat the January Blues with a FREE Yoga Class at Whitespace Studio

On Blue Monday, which is considered the most depressing day of the year, Whitespace Yoga & Wellbeing Studio in Stony Stratford will open its doors to the residents of Milton Keynes for a free yoga class in a bid to help battle the blues!

Experts say that the third Monday of January is when we feel the weight and pressures of everyday life most after the joyful Christmas period - causing people to feel low and lose track of New Year's resolutions.

The yoga taster class at Whitespace Studio is designed for all levels – from complete beginners to seasoned yogis - offering the chance to switch off from everyday stresses, feel healthier and bring a sense of well-being to those who attend.

Deborah Berryman Yoga Teacher and Founder of Whitespace Studio comments: “As one of the most stressful times of year, we want to inspire and encourage more people to put their wellbeing back to the top of the priority list. In just an hour, a yoga class can lift your spirits and give you a sense of calm – leaving you ready to take on the rest of January.”

There are a limited number of spaces to join the free class which begins at 11.45am and lasts for one hour.

Pre-booking is advised by calling 01908 566610 or online here

If you can’t attend the class, Whitespace Studio has provided a few tips to help get through the gloomy day:

Reconnect – Too often we leave friendships too long without communication, leaving us feeling disconnected. Pick up the phone to schedule a coffee or send a message to a friend or family member which will brighten their morning.

Carry out an act of kindness - Make it your mission to do something nice for a stranger- as simple as a compliment or buying the next person in the queue a coffee. It’ll not only make you feel good but is proven to have significant physical and mental health benefits.

Make time for YOU – Think about what makes you smile and schedule it into your day. It might be going for a walk, taking a yoga class, getting lost in a book or turning off your phone; take some space and do something just for you.

Look forward – Having plans to get excited about is great to get yourself through the mundane moments. If you don’t have anything planned this week, make a list of all the things you have coming up in the near future or the things you’d like to tick off your list this year.

Through Yoga, Pilates and Mindfulness, Whitespace Studio has helped to improve the health and wellbeing of over 6,500 residents in Milton Keynes over the last eight years and continues to do so with a variety of classes each week to suit all ages and abilities.
