Bookish breakfast on the menu this World Book Day in Milton Keynes

This year, in celebration of World Book Day, the Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery restaurants in Milton Keynes are gearing up to welcome their share of Willy Wonka’s, Fantastic Mr Fox’s and Gruffalo’s through their doors.

In the run up to World Book Day, restaurants including The Peartree Bridge Inn and Wolverton House, are appealing to the local community to donate their unwanted books, ready for a community bookish breakfast on Saturday March 3rd. All proceeds will be donated to the NSPCC children’s charity to support the great work the charity does with children across the UK.

Selected restaurants will also have a pop-up book corner, where guests can go and choose a book to give to their children during their visit.

Started in 1997, World Book Day aims to bring together children of all ages to explore the pleasures of reading and provide opportunities for them to have a book of their own. From Harry Potter to Tracey Beaker, World Book Day encourages children to dress up as their favourite characters and discover new books.

Speaking about the World Book Day celebrations, Hayley Willetts, assistant marketing manager of Stonehouse Pizza & Carvery restaurants, said; “We’re excited to have all of our restaurants across Buckinghamshire involved with our World Book Day celebrations, and we’re looking forward to seeing all of the colourful characters walk through our doors for our bookish breakfast.

“Having the chance to support the NSPCC at the same time as encouraging children and adults to discover or rediscover the joys of reading is amazing, and we hope that everyone, including the adults, are getting their costumes ready!”
