FUNNY BUSINESS: Stephen Bailey in the hot seat ahead of Milton Keynes show

We have a soft spot for Stephen Bailey and his smile-inducing work, and the funny man is coming to Milton Keynes before the month end.  Winner!

‘Our Kid’ – a story full of Northern warmth, some working-class guilt and a bit of blue, arrives at The Stables in Wavendon on February 28.

Last August Stephen enjoyed a sold-out month at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, but to be fair, 2018 was sweet all round for Mr Bailey.

He also supported Katherine Ryan on her sell-out tour, presented 5star’s reality show ‘Celebs On The Farm,' toured with his first critically acclaimed show 'Can't Think Straight,' and made weekends fun as resident agony uncle on ITV1’s ‘Zoe Ball On Saturday & Sunday.'

He arrives in the new city armed with his super sharp wit and side-splitting stories about his roots and finding out who he is!

Stephen talked funny business with Total MK...

When did you first think 'Comedy - that's the job for me'?

I watched Coyote Ugly and Piper Perabo got to live her dream and I was like I want to live my dream, and find true love - so I thought let’s do this! This life is hard enough so let’s live it as best we can, for as long as we can. I think that’s about 45 for me….then I’m done.

Which comedian first piqued your interest, and why?

Chelsea Handler – because she used her personality to guide her act. So there was no contrived feeling for me as an audience – unlike all these comedians banging on about veganism!

If you weren't working raising the smiles, what would you be working as?

I think I’d be a really good agent. I love a good hustle. Or I’d love to teach people how to do their jobs properly. PEOPLE ARE SO BAD AT THEIR JOBS!

What's the best heckle you've ever had?

Fancy a drink…. So afterward, I may have drank with him and I may or may not have kissed him. But he was a doctor and my real aim in life is to be a housewife.

Tell us about your worst gig so far

I accidentally got really drunk and as I was announced on stage I walked onto the stage, fell into the mic and sent it flying into the audience

...and the one which still send shivers for all the right reasons?

Filming my Comedy Central special (coming this spring) – I just felt like this is what I’ve been waiting for – and they laughed at all my inappropriate jokes.

Are there any subjects which are off limits?

Probably but I don’t care.

We've got to finish with a joke, so over to you - but keep it family friendly...anyone could read this!

Buy a ticket and I’ll tell you a joke – otherwise I’m going to just sit here and finish this sandwich.
