intu Milton Keynes team makes Volunteer Week 2019 one to remember

Staff from intu Milton Keynes stepped up and did their bit – and more – to mark Volunteers’ Week 2019 by donating their time to a range of local charities.

Colleagues at intu Milton Keynes used the week to raise awareness of volunteering and its benefits. In total, 22 members of staff gave up more than 80 hours of their time to local causes.

Staff helped at MK Food Bank, sorting donations in the warehouse and handing out food parcels to those in need at the Serving Centre at Christ the Cornerstone Church. They also helped out with weeding at the Fred Roche Gardens in collaboration with Green Gym, and held a cupcake sale at the intu Milton Keynes staff canteen to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.

Kirsty McGiff, marketing manager at intu Milton Keynes, said: “Volunteers’ Week is an important part of our community engagement and, as we form part of the most popular shopping destinations in the UK, it’s a key date in all our calendars.

“Working with our local partners enables us to create positive change and impact as well as bridging future relationships. Volunteering is not only important for the organisations we work with, but it is also proven to improve volunteers’ own wellbeing as well – plus there have been many smiles and enjoyment over the week.”

Volunteers’ Week is an annual event that takes place during the first week of June.
